The MediPal app has two primary functions. The app allows individuals to self-report their symptoms to the ministry of health officials as the virus progresses. Additionally, the app uses location data to help identify where individuals have been. In the event of an individual being tested and confirmed as a positive case, the location data of that individual, for the past 14 days, can be shared with the Ministry of Health for contact tracing purposes. Essentially, the app allows health officials to see who else may have been in contact with the positive individual and may potentially be carrying the virus. The location feature is not automatically turned on and requires that individuals voluntarily share their data to guard against privacy concerns. The app is not intended to replace current contact tracing protocols but instead provide additional information to officials to carry out their function.

Your data will be accessible by the Ministry of Health to help them understand the symptoms of the virus from person to person and to aid ministry officials in their contact tracing efforts.

If you wish to turn off the processing of your location data, you can do that by turning off location sharing at any time within the app.
